Students from Nottingham University recently saw off tough competition to reach the semi-finals of the 2005 Students In Free Enterprise World Cup, greatly impressing the judging panel of senior business leaders.
The students presented community projects they had developed for the non-profit organisation to a panel of leaders from Campbell Soup to Coca Cola and HSBC, but were pipped at the post by the University of Zimbabwe.
Nottingham put up a good fight though and team leader Steve Frost said he believes that “winning is not everything. From inspiring people and different cultures to projects that are changing the world – Toronto was an amazing experience!â€?
“Showcasing the impact of our work to the world’s best business people certainly did make the heart beat a little faster. But the wave of applause made up for it. We are proud to have come this far and hope other Nottingham teams will follow suit.â€?
