A policewoman shot whilst investigating a robbery on Lenton Boulevard has gone back into surgery after a setback in her condition.

PC Rachael Bown had gone into the QMC on Monday night after being hit in the lower abdomen, below her body armour.

The 23-year-old’s condition had previously been thought to be improving, and Nottinghamshire Police Chief Constable Steve Green has expressed his concern for Bownm, who is now said to be recovering from the successful operation.

"It is a very worrying time for everyone," he explained. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Rachael and her family."
