On friday night Impact was awarded a runner-up prize for the second time in as many weeks. This time the award ceremony was that of the ‘National Student Journalism Awards’ organised by the National Union of Students.
Impact received the runner-up prize for ‘Best Magazine of 2006’, sponsored by Closer magazine, and was pipped to the post by The Orbital Magazine of The Royal Holloway, University of London.
This second prize for the University of Nottingham’s favourite student publication comes only days after the Guardian also awarded it a runner-up prize for ‘Best Designed Publication of 2006’ at its equivalent Student Media Awards.
Impact’s former Editor-In-Chief, Chris Regan wasn’t available to comment, but was seen running towards at tube station with a large cheque. The writer is sure however, that Chris would like to thank the Impact team of 2005-2006 for their hard work and wish the team of 2006-2007 the best of luck at next year’s awards.
