Impact has learned today that Vala Anderson (Representational Associations Officer) has stepped down from the Student’s Union Exec.

Although a reason for Vala’s resignation has yet to be released by the SU, it is anticipated that a formal explanation will be given shortly, and possibly at the next SU Council meeting (to be held 15th February 2007).

Vala is a staunch defender of women’s rights, and at the last SU Council she fought succesfully to allow the women’s campaign to become an associated body. Whether this is related to her decision to resign is unknown, as there had been a lot of resistance to appointing the women’s campaign to this status.
