The summer is officially over and I don’t know about you but I am relieved! No more shivering in smock dresses while you wait for the bus, or your father asking you suspiciously why you’re wearing a maternity dress. Now it is time to bring out your sophisticated side with the return of black, black and more black. Also making a comeback this season is the waist. I know some are reluctant for its return, a smock dress can hide a multitude of sins, but nothing looks sexier than a cinched in waist showing off your curves. If your student loan is stretched as thin as mine, and a thirty £30 belt from Topshop seems a bit extravagant, check out some of the second hand shops around Nottingham. For some inspiration here are some of this seasons catwalk looks.

Another key look this summer was the mini skirt, giving us the chance to show off our carefully tanned and buffed legs. But as the sunshine fades so will our tans and I for one have never been a fan of spray tans. I will therefore embrace this next trend with a passion; the midi, the prefect length for this autumn. Knowing our lovely English weather tights will soon become a staple part of your everyday wardrobe. If more black is a bit too much for you to take check out Miss Selfridge for woolly tights in a multitude different colours and textures.

As the days get shorter its time to get cosy with chunky knits. Channel have gone retro this season with jumpers that would make your granny proud. For something a bit more in your budget check out H&M. Wear with jodhpurs for the ultimate in season look. But if jodhpurs sound a bit to scary you can always dig out those good old skinny jeans.

As a model you get to see some rather strange trends sweeping the fashion elite. One of the strangest items I have had to wear recently was a pair of red PVC fingerless shoulder length gloves that puffed up like armbands over my non-existent biceps. There will always be new trends, don’t feel pressurised to blow your entire loan on some extravagant items that will only been in season for a month. The best thing you can wear is confidence.
