The latest offering from the renowned bi-monthly ‘Fabriclive’ series appoints to the decks Freq Nasty, a Fiji born Kiwi raised DJ based in London and Los Angeles. With a career based on chasing deep basslines through many electronic genres, he has succeeded in producing a set that unites the variety, combining dub (Heavyweight Dub Champion), with garage (TRG) and techno (Baobinga). “It’s bassline and breaks all the way through, just different permutations of them”, confides the erudite DJ. Freq Nasty’s own featured remixes impress, as does Cadence Weapon’s “House Music”, but the frenetic pace eases off unsatisfactorily towards the very end.
