Last night I saw A Place to Bury Strangers for the third time in just over a year. What amazes me the most about them it that not since My Bloody Valentine has a band really annihilated my eardrums and set themselves on another level, leaving the competition drooling and scratching their heads. With a new album out entitled Exploding Head, APTBS have gone the extra mile and produced something that is both loud and soft, melodic and distorted. Its a much cleaner sounding noise than their debut; it’s more controlled and beautiful. From a live perspective the anticipation was very high, and as ever they delivered a solid performance of noise, anarchy and pleasure. There is also a visual element to the band; the colour of the lights was distorted, or even total blackness with pulsating white light just to add to the element of a blurred world.

A Place To Bury Strangers new album is out now, titled Exploding Head. To hear more go to their myspace.
