Stay with Impact for all your Varsity 2010 needs…
Over the next few months Impact magazine will be leading you on a blow-by-blow journey through the highs and lows of the 2010 Varsity series.
What began as a few friendly matches between the two universities decades ago has developed into a frenzy of healthy competition in ten different sports. For many teams it is the highlight of their season and the chance to play in front of a much larger crowd. Our coverage of the 2010 series will touchdown with a new addition to the family; American Football and continue all the way through until June when Uni. Nottingham will hope to bowl over Trent in the Carnival Cricket series finale.
In 2008 Trent emerged victorious beating the University 7.5 matches to 4.5, but, Nottingham sought reprisal and reclaimed their title the following year by 7.5 to 5.5. With rumours of plagues of injuries in Rugby Union and American Football threatening to damage our hopes for 2010, The University of Nottingham will have to dig deep to give their supporters something to cheer about. As ever the Nottingham Knights and Trent Tigers cheerleading squads will decorate the pitch side and provide half-time distractions by being thrown in the air, legs akimbo, wearing very short skirts. And if that isn’t entertainment enough there’s always the matches themselves…
Our reporters will thrash out some pre-match interviews with team captains and star players, our writers will give you the run-down on the team’s performances and our team of photographers will hope to score with an array of spectacular sporting images. Keep checking our updated website for your fix on the various sports.
