The disappearance of Miron Filipovic, 21, reached a tragic conclusion last night as police discovered Filipovic’s body in a canal off London Road, Nottingham. Miron, a Dutch international exchange student studying at Nottingham Trent University, was described by friends as a “sensible, conscientious student”, and was last seen on Saturday 14th November at a party in University halls of residence at Castle Gate.

Police searched the canal after receiving a call from a member of the public, who, after seeing Miron’s photograph in a television appeal, identified Miron as the man he saw walking close to the canal early on Sunday morning. Miron’s parents arrived in Nottingham yesterday prior to the discovery of his body, and are now said to be “distraught” by the death of their son.

Police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding Miron’s death, and anyone with any information that may assist the police investigation is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 0300 300 9999.
