Having only caught the last 15 minutes of their set at Exit Festival this summer, to say I was greatly anticipating seeing Yeasayer again is an understatement. Performing in what feels like a large school hall, the band took to the stage with a refreshing zeal despite the fact that they’ve played in Nottingham many times before – a place that we found out in an earlier interview they don’t really remember all that well. Crowd pleasers O.N.E and Ambling Alp hit all the right notes, whilst the encore of 2080 seemed a fitting way to end a truly great show. If I was to make a small criticism of the gig, it would be that it wasn’t long enough. Having took to the stage at 9pm, the show was over, encore and all, by 10pm. With two strong albums behind them, an hour in which to play just didn’t feel long enough nor do the band justice.
