Campaigners March in the Trades Union Congress’ Austerity Protest
Our News blogger, Dylan Williams, went to the Trade Union Congress’s march against austerity spending cuts in collaboration with the NUS on Saturday 20th October.
He asked some people on the march their thoughts:
“The idea that these people are somehow born to rule; should be in a position to rule, because of their income, the school they went to, that idea is something Labour is trying to counter… [Ed Miliband] has to take a different approach to building social housing” Dr Jocelynne A. Scutt
“I find it sadenning that the NHS is being dismantled…I hope that today’s event has created more pressure for future power from those people in power” Jit Mistry
“I think we sent out a big message today” Paul Relph
“I’m marching for jobs for young people, employees’ rights, a good education for young people…[Miliband] didn’t have the power of the other speakers…he offered no alternative and didn’t provide a solution to the recession” Nick Jackman
