The nights are drawing in and the chill is taking hold, but have no fear as Wool Week is here!
From Monday 15th, the sheep-loving folk at LoveWool UK will be initiating a weeklong event throughout the country to focus on the benefits of wool in fashion, furnishings and everyday life. It is a community of sheep farmers, designers, retail and consumers (yes that’s us, in need of a constant woolly hug). It is a global campaign that has seen success on an annual basis, including the launch of Wool School that has joined forces with leading retail brands including Topshop, Jigsaw, Lyle and Scott, Hobbs and Harvey Nichols to create a line of jumpers in cooperation with Universities in the UK; 5% of profits will then be channelled back into educating students on the benefits of wool. The initiative has seen real achievements with the price farmers receive for their wool increase threefold leading to a renewed confidence for the future of the industry – which, of course, means good news for us all. Keep an eye out for many high street collaborations and fashion campaigns heralding this great cause all next week. So, get knitting or just buying the great woolly stuff.
