A former University of Nottingham student has been signed by professional rugby union team London Wasps.

The Birmingham Mail confirmed that Charlie Hayter signed an 18-month deal with the London club just before his team Moseley were set to face Plymouth Albion.

“Charlie has got a fantastic opportunity to become a Premiership player and you can’t really stand in his way”, coach Kevin Maggs told the reporter.

“He has done fantastically well for us but you can’t stop him progressing. He has been brilliant to work with. I just hope he makes the most of his chance.”

Hayter graduated from Nottingham in 2010 and signed on with the Worchester Warriors before moving to Moseley in 2012.

Previously, he led his high school team to victory in the Daily Mail RBS Cup – a rugby union tournament for secondary schools in England.
