This week’s TGI Spotifriday comes to you from Jonnie. The playlist is filled with local talent from Nottingham, starting with a genuine superstar in the making, Indiana, who has recently released a single through Sony Records. The excellent Denizen Records pair of Kappa Gamma and Kagoule follow, proving that the guitar music is far from dead in the city. The playlist dives into its ‘chill-out zone’, with ex-Nottingham Uni alumni Gallery 47, Later… with Jools Holland star Natalie Duncan and youngster Frankie Rudolf, before the disco-pop of Ronika takes it to an 80s club. The electro-prog of Swimming leads us to a climactic sonic assault of Spotlight Kid and Mint Ive. This is only the start of the talent in Nottingham however. Alongside the famous faces of Jake Bugg and Dog is Dead, there are those who are not yet on Spotify (Great British Weather, Grey Hairs, Saint Raymond) not to mention the city’s burgeoning house scene. There’s plenty to love in Nottingham.
