The result for the Environment and Social Justice Officer has been announced.

The turnout was 1153, and Mike Abiodun Olatokun received 615 votes.

Speaking to Impact, Mike said, ‘This is one of the best moments of my life.’

The election was delayed following the resignation of the ESJ officer, Andrea Pilava earlier this year. Andrea’s resignation led to a re-evaluation of the role in the Students’ Union.

‘I am very glad that the SU has given me the prior opportunities that led to this. Protecting, respecting and extending the rights afforded to our students and fighting for our campuses will be my priorities once my term of office begins,’ Mike added.

He also thanked other candidates for ‘bringing a whole new range of issues into the Environment debate’ and his campaign supporters for their help in the run up to the election.
