The second door of our advent calendar opens and you’re welcomed by Chin’s choice of The Swingle Singers’ version of an all-time classic: ‘Jingle Bells’. Enjoy.

Long before there was Pentatonix, there were The Swingle Singers. Founded 50 years ago, the original line-up consisted of 8 members – currently 7 – and their current repertoire of songs range from Bach to Beyoncé. In this 8-part jazz arrangement of ‘Jingle Bells’ by former member Ben Parry, the singers take us on a musical experience of riding on a sleigh with rhythmic variations of the well-known tune, and interesting tempos that swing between even and odd time signatures; all these combined with a tight accompaniment and chord/ key changes that add both richness and direction to the sound.
