Trailer Watch – Kingsman: The Secret Service

A dapper Colin Firth provides his sultry tones for the voice-over of this trailer. A stellar cast that includes Firth, Michael Caine, Samuel L. Jackson and Mark Strong. A small taste of the high-speed action that the film has to offer. Gadgets, gizmos and all the rest. What’s not to look forward to in Kingsman: The Secret Service?

Based on comic book writers Mark Millar (Kick-Ass) and Dave Gibbons’ (Watchmen) 2012 spy series, Kingsman: The Secret Service follows the young Gary Unwin (Taron Egerton), an unruly but highly intelligent British youth recruited by Harry Hart (Firth) into the world of espionage.

Admittedly reminiscent of Alex Pettyfer’s role as Alex Rider in the unfortunately lacking 2006 film Stormbreaker (don’t get me wrong, I love the books), here’s hoping that Kingsman succeeds where Stormbreaker failed: in creating a teen spy film that can match the original material.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn, director of the first Kick-Ass film as well as X-Men: First Class, I think we can trust that a film of this magnitude is in safe hands. With a combination of classic British suaveness, action and banter, here’s looking forward to 2015 at the pictures.

Kingsman: The Secret Service is due for release on February 12th 2015.
