Hallward undergoing repairs after recent ceiling collapse

A recent partial ceiling panel collapse in Hallward library means there will be ongoing disruption to the library while maintenance teams conduct repair work.

The ceiling collapse occurred on level 2, but affected levels 2, 3 and 4. The Estates team have commissioned expert contractors to inspect all of the ceilings and perform any necessary repairs.

Students are to be advised that Hallward remains safe to use as structural engineers have confirmed that the environment is not dangerous. The repair works will take approximately four weeks and may be carried out seven days a week.

Impact understands that particularly busy areas of the library will be worked on outside opening hours to minimise disruption, but students should note that library staff will be available to access any material that a student needs that is inside a cordoned off area.
