Trailer Watch – Pan

Director Joe Wright’s Pan is the latest retreading of J. M. Barrie’s fairy tale great, and explores the origins of Peter Pan.

With the Jurassic World trailer released on the same day, you may be forgiven for overlooking this first glimpse of Pan. But from Hugh Jackman’s highly theatrical performance of Blackbeard, to the enchanting trailer music (“I Believe” by Christina Perri) and spectacular visuals, Pan seems to capture the magic of this classic bedtime story, and its trailer is one that most certainly delivers on intrigue and wonder.

Perhaps most intriguing of all is the revelation that in this film, Peter Pan (played by Levi Miller) and James Hook (who is clearly not a captain yet) appear to start off as friends. Pan has evidently taken some liberties with the source material here, with a twist that appears far more interesting than just a simple rehashing of a tale audiences already know.

Pan is set for release on July 17th 2015.
