Best Dressed at the Golden Globes

There is nothing quite like the awards season to help get over the January blues and those failed resolutions. On Sunday 10th January, the Hollywood A-listers sported their fanciest glad rags and headed to the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel, where Ricky Gervais presented the 73rd Annual Golden Globes Award. As always, the night was not only focused on the winners of awards but also the beautiful attire that those walking the red carpet had spent time tirelessly putting together with the most renowned stylists in the business.

Jennifer Lawrence

Although it is usually hard to look prominent when your dress matches the color of the carpet, Jennifer Lawrence caught the lens of every camera as she strode down in this beautiful red Dior gown. The fit and positioning of the cut-outs on this gown accentuates Lawrence’s beautiful figure. The actress wore her hair elegantly slicked back and accessorized with a Chopard necklace; she looked absolutely stunning.

Saoirse Ronan

It has been wonderful to watch Saoirse Ronan grow as an actress whilst her career has gone from strength to strength. It has been equally as wonderful to watch her style grow with each additional year. Ronan looked effortlessly sophisticated wearing a white draped Saint Laurent gown with Chopard earrings. An up-do and bare neck made for the perfect finishing touches to this simple but exquisite ensemble.

Lily James

The Cinderella actress clearly had help from her fairy godmother when putting together this glamorous outfit. The white, asymmetric Marchesa gown fitted the actress like a glove. James wore her hair down, with relaxed waves, and did not go overboard with accessorizing, choosing a diamond Harry Winston bracelet.

Lady Gaga

The musician, turned actress, brought the old Hollywood glamour in this black, custom made Atelier Versace gown. The fitted dress gave Lady Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, the perfect hour glass figure. When looking at how Germonotta has styled her platinum blonde hair, if I didn’t know any better, I would have said that Marilyn Monroe had been reincarnated.

Taylor Schilling

Famed for her role as Piper Kerman in Orange is the New Black, Taylor Schilling swapped the prison scrubs for this black, sequined, custom made Thakoon suit. Schilling proved that you do not need to be wearing a gown to look delicate and graceful. The actress wore her hair in an un-do and let the sequins do the work of accessories: gorgeous.

Emilia Clarke

The Game of Thrones actress ever so slightly channeled her character, Daenerys Targaryen, with this caped Valentino gown. The black, sheer material and 3D floral embellishment gave the look a gothic feel. As her gown brings out the drama, she has ensured make-up is fresh, simple and natural, but not over the top.
