The University of Nottingham (UoN) Men’s Lacrosse team recorded a convincing 16-9 victory of Nottingham Trent University (NTU), after a first-quarter blitz sent them on their way.
Seven unanswered goals in the first quarter ultimately gave the boys from Trent too much of a mountain to climb, and UoN never looked like relinquishing their lead.
The game started with UoN dominating possession, and scoring the goals to show for their efforts, including a particularly good dart and finish.
“The third quarter began as the first one did, with a fantastic UoN goal”
The second quarter was a more even affair, as Trent grabbed two goals of their own, before UoN responded with two goals of their own before half-time, as UoN went in 9-2 ahead.
The third quarter began as the first one did, with a fantastic UoN goal, after a great pass into the middle and sweet finish.
The team traded goals in the third quarter fairly regularly, with Trent looking a much more potent force, either due to UoN taking their foot off the gas slightly, or a stern half-time talking to.
“They closed out the game in relative comfort, scoring twice in the final quarter as Trent grabbed four of their own”
The third quarter ended 14-5, and by this point it was fairly certain that UoN would win the game. They closed out the game in relative comfort, scoring twice in the final quarter as Trent grabbed four of their own, ending the game at 16-9, the difference being the scintillating first quarter in which UoN ran away with it.
Victory meant that the score was 12-7 in the overall Varsity series, going in the Rugby League, with UoN having already secured the 2016 Varsity Series win.
