5 Most Selfie-Worthy Places in Nottingham

Unarguably, Nottingham has to be one of the most picturesque cities in England. From our beautiful University of Nottingham campuses, to famous landmarks such as Nottingham Castle and, of course, the statue of the main man, himself; Robin Hood.

There is no doubt that your Instagram likes will be at an all-time high with selfies based around Nottingham! Here is Impact Arts’ list of the 5 best places to take a selfie in Nottingham:

Robin Hood is a prominent figure in Nottingham’s history. This monument, situated outside the well-known Nottingham Castle, another selfie-worthy place in Nottingham, is a great commemoration in his honour. What better way to show you are cultural, and appreciate Nottingham’s history, than taking a picture with the main man himself.

Market Square

Not only giving you aesthetically pleasing city scenery, Market Square is indeed the biggest square in Britain. It is also the main attraction during the Christmas Lights switch on because of the beautiful sights, and, if you turn around, you can get the feeling of being transported to a different time period with the modernist looking fountain opposite the council house. Don’t forget to take a selfie with the Left Lion statue, a must-do in Nottingham!

An Elizabethan country house which was built between the years of 1580 and 1588, not only does it have historical significance, Batman: The Dark Knight Rises was also filmed outside this hall. For every DC fan, this location is a must for selfies! As well as having the breathtakingly beautiful park with deer, Wollaton Hall a.k.a. Batman’s house is a monument in itself, to which all DC Comics fans should pilgrimage.

Trent Building, also known as the aesthetic landmark of Uni Park campus, is home to the School of English and Languages department. There are nooks and crannies to explore here, and if the view of the building overlooking Highfields Lake and Gardens are not enough, the courtyard also makes for a beautiful setting. #NoFilterNeeded is the most relevant hashtag for any selfie taken here.

Last but not least, a selfie location which is a must for every University of Nottingham student. Inspired by the well-known Glastonbury sign, what better selfie to take than one that is a textual reference to elucidate your location. This sign cannot be missed, and is perfect to take group photos in front of, to show how picturesque our campus really is; from taking pictures on a lake to standing in front of huge letters spelling out Nottingham.

Take a selfie and feel like you are standing by the Hollywood sign, taking pride in your glamorous student life at UoN instead. As some may say: ‘If you don’t have a photo with the Nottingham sign on campus, were you even a student there?’
