Comments Policy
Anyone is allowed to have their say about our published material. Inclusion, not exclusion, is our priority and we are happy to let anyone contribute to ongoing conversation as long as they are willing to abide by our rules. The following guidelines were created to keep the website safe and open to all. These rules are obviously subject to contextual differences and enforcement of them may vary upon the situation.
1. We welcome debate but demand that all users of this website stay open-minded and under all circumstances refrain from launching into personal attacks, trolling or making vulgar remarks.
2. We expect every user of this website to keep their posts clear, relevant and non-arbitrary. Gratuitous use of capital letters and punctuation marks will not be accepted.
3. We respect constructive criticism of our published material, but will not allow any false accusations to be made about our magazine, our editors or any one of our writers.
4. We will not allow any users of this website to make any form of hate-speech, such as racism, sexism or homophobia. We put the well-being of our users first and any individual in breach of this rule will not be permitted to post on our website for the foreseeable future.
5. We will not approve any posts that are irrelevant commercial ads or spamming.
6. We will not approve any posts that are in any way defamatory, libellous or in breach of copyright laws.
7. We will consider not approving comments or usernames which are seen as an attempt to impersonate someone else. Anonymity is fine; impersonation is not.
8. We prohibit the publication of any personal information that could put any individual in needless danger. This includes contact details such as address, telephone number, mobile number, e-mail address, place of employment and so forth.
9. Naturally, we expect every user of this website to post in English. Foreign loanwords or greetings are acceptable, but any excessive use of another language will not be tolerated.
10. We expect everyone to help us to keep conversations on this website inviting and appropriate and to notify us of any potential problems straightaway. If you spot a comment that goes against any of these rules, please report it by emailing the Web Editor at: website@impactnottingham.com.
11. We will not tolerate any abuse of our complaints procedure, so please only get in touch with us if your concerns are genuine.
