About

Impact is the official magazine of the University of Nottingham Students’ Union and has been in operation since 1939. Run entirely by volunteers, we publish a free 64-page full colour magazine every month of the academic year, as well as this website.

Awards

Impact has won several awards at the annual Guardian Student Media Awards. It won Student Magazine of the Year in 2001 and was runner-up in this category in 2005 and 2007. It was also runner-up in the category for Student Publication Design of the Year for the 2006 awards. Writers for the magazine have also won individual awards, including Amy Franks for Student Columnist of the Year and Nosheen Asghar for Student Diversity Writer of the Year in 2002, and Paul Robins for Sports Writer of the Year in 2004.

Editorial team

In addition to our contributors, Impact has around thirty editors. Many are jointly in charge of a section such as Sports, Arts or Music, but Impact also has a team of people who organise photos, design our pages, publicise the magazine and generally make sure everything works smoothly. Office location

Our office is a little tricky to find! In the old part of the Portland Building, head to the western end on the top floor. Go up the stairs on the right at the end of the corridor and then through the door opposite the chaplains. Head left and down the corridor to our office. Sound complicated? Don’t worry, there are also a few signs to guide you there.
